Setting-up Protection

To protect a folder:

Open the aMember Admin Control Panel
From the left menu, click Protect Folders
The Protect Folders screen opens
Click Protect New Folder link
Protect Folder page appears
Click Browse... button
A folder selection popup window will appear. It displays amember/ page by default, click .. Previous Directory to go one-level higher
Navigate between your website folders, and choose a folder to protect, then click a circle opposite to desired folder
Popup window will close, and internal unix path to folder will be copied into input text field
Click Continue button
aMember will display next screen of the wizard
Choose a protection method (read more about Protection Methods)
Choose products that will allow access to given folder. For example, if you choose Product #1 and Product #3 in the list (keeping the Ctrl key pressed on keyboard), only customers having subscription to these products will be allowed to visit protected folder. If your site provides only one access level to all subscribers, click Just any active subscription is enough - it is better than choosing all products in the list, because it will also include products that you will create in future.
Click Continue button. If you get errors about files/directory permissions, you may need to chmod folders on your website using your ftp client to 770, 707 or 777 (depending on the server setup). After installing the protection, chmod folders back to default permissions.
